The mixed-media illustrations, created in watercolor, pencil and inks have been done on drums constructed by the artist, and are made with recycled cow rawhide, and rims of recycled Washington state maple.

Artist's Statement
Each drum I create comes alive before my eyes as a record of loving inspiration to be offered back to the world as a prayer for the healing of the human spirit and that of the earth's. It is with my greatest determination that I offer my creative energy into my drums. Each drum I create carries the message of a specific plant or animal. Sometimes both.

The drum allows us to access the patterns of the life force inside and outside ourselves so that we can understand that everything exists simultaneously and is part of us, we are all in this together.

The drum faces pictured here are from the FRONT and BACK of one of the eleven two-sided Drums pictured above. They are currently all in private collections. They were all created with recycled cow rawhide and maple rims. The sizes I have available f

The Drums are two-sided and the rims are decorated. The front of the drum displays an elaborately illustrated theme, while the back has specific prayers influenced by Native American wisdom and myth and refer to the front pictorial subject matter. The center of the prayer side is always left empty (or almost empty) so that you can "beat the prayer awake through the voice of the drum." The drums come with a combination beater/rattle/talking stick which hangs off the bottom. A small prayer offering pouch (as pictured here) is also available upon request.
